About This Spot

Stepping into Boiling SOHO - Newington is like walking into a vibrant yet unpretentious neighborhood hideaway where the rhythms of the city soften into warm lights and easy laughter. The intimacy of the space, punctuated by charming vintage touches and a thoughtfully arranged outdoor patio, invites guests to linger—whether nestled inside near the glowing bar or soaking up the evening breeze outside. It’s a spot where the pace slows just enough to savor shared moments over a seafood spread.

The atmosphere hums with a laid-back energy that feels both familiar and a little special. Soft, soulful music drifts through the air, wrapping around tables where friends and families gather, their conversations blending with the clink of glasses and the occasional delighted sigh. Hospitality here leans quietly toward genuine; servers move with a steady kindness, creating a welcoming rhythm rather than a rush.

At the heart of the experience is the food—fresh seafood brought to life with a casual flair that encourages sharing and discovery. Rather than a rigid menu, the offerings feel like an open invitation to explore: from smoky grilled oysters to a rousing seafood boil brimming with spices and textures, every bite carries a sense of celebration. Fried calamari and crisp sweet potato fries add familiar comforts, while dishes like scallop teriyaki and shrimp ceviche hint at playful turns on coastal classics.

This is a place to gather not just for a meal, but for the moments between bites—the shared reach for a corn cob from a communal boil, the clink of a Moscow Mule raised in quiet cheer, the easy camaraderie sparked by good music and friendlier faces. Boiling SOHO - Newington holds onto a relaxed spirit, inviting you to arrive curious, stay for the warmth, and leave with something a little joyfully simple tucked into your evening.

Four ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ‘s across the board. My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Tonight was our anniversary and we gave it a try! VERY GOOD! ATMOSPHERE: we loved the outdoor seating with durable quality tables and chairs, along with a sprawling bar and lovely lighting and plants . SERVICE: Humble, soft spoken, concise, responsive, pleasurable. DRINKS: Moscow Mule for my wife was PERFECT and the Long Island Iced Tea was as well. COST: Overpriced by a small amount, perhaps $4-5 an entree, but still worth the experience. FOOD: I think the boiled seafood was VERY GOOD!! I loved how they offered a linguine compliment to the seafood meat selection. Nice touch! FOOD 2: The Teppanyaki is one of the best choices here. The scallops and shrimp were VERY GOOD. The steak that came with it, however, was chewy and not the best, but the seafood was delicious. FOOD 3: Oysters were awesome! I absolutely loved the hot sauce that came as a side condiment. Such a nice taste with a kick!!! Overall this place was VERY GOOD!! Follow-me for more reviews!

This is my partners favorite spot. Went there around 7 pm, and it was empty besides a family at the patio. The service was fast, and the food was amazing!!! My child had the seafood broil for the 1st time, and he finished the whole thing. The owner, Alex, came to greet us and made sure we had everything to enjoy our food and time. Music was super dope; they were playing old skool R&B. Definitely recommend this spot for couples, families, and friends.

Trying to avoid hangry grocery shopping with Thomas Lavoie, we drove up the Berlin Turnpike crossing off options for a Saturday afternoon lunch. He had mentioned a new cajun boil spot along the route, and although I veto'd it, when we drove by it looked adorable. Boiling SOHO - Newington's building is vintage cool, not many tables but great service. We shared a crunchy Cesar salad, garlic bread, and a sailor feast - fresh snow crab legs, mussels, crawfish, clams, shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes and a boiled egg in garlic butter sauce. Delicious! Love this restaurant concept, and happy to have one close by. They also have a location in New Haven. -Marisa Balletti-Lavoie

Recommendation: - Charcoal Blue Point Oyster - Combo C (clams, shrimp head-on, crawfish, lobster tail) . Details: It's a Sunday night, my wife and I just left a wedding dresses shop and were very hungry. We're arrived at Boiling SOHO at 8PM. We started with 6 Charcoal Blue Point Oysters, I suggest that you order Garlic Bread to eat with the sauce on the Oyster, it's good. For the main entrée, we got a Combo C (with clams, shrimp head-on, crawfish, lobster tail); add in corn, pork sausage, garlic bread, white rice; and SOHO special sauce. The sauce here is not too spicy (Medium level), which is good. My wife can enjoy it. So we have tried Cajun Seafood at Hook and Reel, we think this place is better. Hook and Reel has their sauce a bit salty at the end, where Boiling SOHO has it just right. We will definitely come back when we want Cajun Seafood again.

I was in Hartford and google seafood restaurants and this one came up. Nice vibe, clean, friendly and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Food was super fresh service was excellent and attentive. I would Definately take the drive back to eat here from Nee Jersey. I travel for food. This was 2 's up. Ordered seafood sampler, grilled octopus, shrimp ceviche and shared a seafood combo. We love spicy food so they made the ceviche spicy for us..excellent and lumps of shrimp. The grilled octopus was excellent came with a sweet chili sauce which I dint care for. I am a spicy girl. The food was clean and ask for no salt on the seafood boil. Came out awesome. Highly recommend if your in the area.

Came here for a late lunch today to enjoy a seafood boil and it was great! I got the snow crab, crawfish, muscles, clams, sausage, egg, potatoes, corn and broccoli for $35, a great price and portion. They had different seasoning options and I went with the spicy garlic butter. My fiancé got the Beef Teppanyaki, it was tender and flavorful. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Great little atmosphere they have going on. They also have happy hours during the week. We will definitely be back.
